Uncategorized Ingredients You’ll Need (Serves 6–8) 3–4 lb boneless chuck roast (well-marbled) 1 packet (1 oz) Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix (dry seasoning—not the bottled kind!) ADVERTISEMENT 1 packet (1 oz) McCormick Au Jus Gravy Mix 1 stick (½ cup) unsalted butter, cut into 4 pieces 5–6 pepperoncini peppers, plus ¼ cup of their brine from the jar ✅ Optional: Add 2–3 garlic cloves or 1 sliced onion for extra depth. Step-by-Step Instructions (Effortless & Foolproof) 1. Prep the Roast Pat chuck roast dry with paper towels (helps seasoning stick). Place directly in the bottom of your slow cooker. 2. Layer the Flavor Sprinkle Ranch dressing mix evenly over the top. Sprinkle Au Jus mix on top of that. Arrange butter pieces over the surface. Top with pepperoncini peppers and pour ¼ cup of their brine over everything. ADVERTISEMENT ❗ Do not add water—the roast and peppers provide all the liquid needed. 3. Cook Low and Slow Cover and cook on LOW for 8 hours (or HIGH for 5–6 hours if short on time). → Low and slow = fork-tender perfection. 4. Shred or Slice Remove roast and let rest 10 minutes. Shred with forks or slice against the grain. Skim excess fat from the juices if desired. 5. Serve & Enjoy Spoon rich, herby gravy over the meat. Serve with mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or crusty bread to soak up every drop. Serving Suggestions & Pro Tips Classic pairing: Creamy mashed potatoes + roasted carrots Sandwich style: Pile shredded beef on hoagie rolls with provolone Make ahead: Tastes even better the next day! Freeze for later: Portion meat and gravy for up to 3 months Boost flavor: Stir in a splash of red wine or Worcestershire sauce before cooking FAQs: Your Questions, Answered Q: Can I use bottled ranch dressing instead of dry mix? A: No—it adds too much liquid and won’t concentrate flavor. Use dry ranch seasoning. Q: What if I don’t have pepperoncini? A: Substitute banana peppers or 1 tbsp white vinegar + ½ tsp sugar—but pepperoncini are ideal. Q: Why no water? A: The butter melts, the roast releases juices, and the pepperoncini brine adds liquid—creating a perfect self-basting environment. Q: Can I sear the roast first? A: You can—but it’s not necessary. This recipe is designed for true “no-fuss” cooking. Q: Is this gluten-free? A: Check labels—many Au Jus and Ranch mixes contain gluten. Use GF versions if needed.
