Part 2: Ethan’s voice was steady but carried through the entire garden like thunder.

More voices joined in. Guests who had received Diane’s private messages began confirming the smear campaign. The wedding planner discreetly signaled the musicians to stop the music entirely.

I finally found my voice. With tears streaming down my face but my head held high, I looked at Diane. “I fought cancer with everything I had. I lost my hair, my energy, pieces of my dignity. But I never lied to Ethan. I told him the truth every step of the way. You tried to destroy us, but your hate only made our love stronger.”

Ethan gently placed the wig back in my hands. Instead of putting it on, I handed it to my maid of honor and stood there proudly with my bare scalp visible. “This is me. This is what I survived. And I’m marrying your son anyway.”

The officiant, sensing the shift in the room, stepped forward. “Unless anyone has a real objection, I suggest we continue this beautiful ceremony.”

No one spoke against us. In fact, several guests started clapping. Then the applause grew until the entire garden was cheering.

Diane stood frozen, humiliated, as Ethan’s father quietly took her arm and led her to the side. She tried one last desperate plea: “Ethan, please… I only wanted what’s best for you.”

“What’s best for me is Sarah,” he replied firmly. “And after today, I think it’s best you leave.”

Security — discreetly arranged by Ethan’s best man — escorted Diane out as the ceremony resumed. When Ethan kissed me, it wasn’t just a kiss. It was a declaration to the world that nothing — not cancer, not his toxic mother — could break us.

The reception that followed was emotional and powerful. Guests shared stories of their own battles with illness and family betrayal. My friends surrounded me with love, helping me feel beautiful again, bald scalp and all.

But I knew this wasn’t over. Diane had been exposed, but her damage ran deep.
